The month of Thai in the Tamil Calendar is special for the Tamils world over. Three events - ‘Thai Pongal’ (Harvest Festival and Thanksgiving), ‘Thiruvalluvar Thinam (birthday of Thiruvalluvar, author of the Thirukkuṛaḷ, a collection of couplets on ethics, politics, economics, and love. The text is considered the greatest work of the Tamil literature and one of the finest works on ethics and morality.), and ‘Tamil New Year’ are celebrated by the Tamils of Sydney on January 27 Sunday from 9 am at Parramatta Park, New South Wales.
