Former President of Pakistan General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has denied seeking apology in the Bugti murder case, saying he did not approach the slain leader’s family.

Facing trial for his role in the operation that led to the death of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti in 2006, Musharraf expressed willingness to reach a negotiated settlement, but he was not up for taking the first step.

“If a compromise can be reached to settle this case, it should come from the party that launched the case,” he told SBS Urdu correspondent Mohammed Faraz in an exclusive interview.

“If they [Bugti’s family] approach me for a settlement, then yes I am open to negotiate.”

Last week, Nawab Bugti’s son, Jamil Akbar Bugti, told the media during the case hearing at the Anti-Terrorist Court that the former president has sent an apology through his lawyer.

He also made it clear that the family would not accept any apology in this matter.
