A forty four year old man was found severely injured with head injuries at his home in Lakemba.
Zeeshan Ahmed was taken to St George Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Initial inquiries by the NSW Police suggest that the man was assaulted and injured before he reached his house.
"It’s a horrendous crime. The victim is currently in hospital in an induced coma,” NSW Police Inspector Rick Agius told 9NEWS.
“Striking someone on the head from behind is a very callous, very horrendous offence,” he said.
