How real is the West's concerns about Pakistani minorities?

A Pakistani Christian woman Asia Bibi whose death sentence for blasphemy charges was commuted is now released and shifted to unknown place but the verdict has divided the nation and again reopened the debate about the rights of minorities and misuse of controversial blasphemy laws.

Pakistani authorities claims that Asia Bibi is safe in Pakistan after an agreement between hard line religious party’s protesters and government. Agreement bars Asia bibi to leave the country. Aasia bibi’s lawyer has already fled the country.

Western countries and human rights groups are demanding Pakistani government to take serious measures for the safety of minorities in a country that is sharply divided on the issue. Uzma Noorani is Co-Chairperson of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. She admits that despite assurances given for the safety of Asia Bibi ,  Pakistani government must be fully aware of the high-level risks that face Asia Bibi in Pakistan.
