Eid ul Adha is the second occasion after Eid ul Fitr that is celebrated by Muslims across the world.

To make a sacrifice on this day, traditionally people have been visiting their ancestral homes in other countries or ask their families and relatives to make an animal sacrifice on their behalf.

But now things have been changing with new solutions and services making it convenient in Australia to offer ‘Qurbani (sacrifice)’.

One such solution is now offered by a local butcher shop which is taking qurbani orders online. A customer can make the payment online and provide the required details for qurbani.

On the day of Eid, qurbani will be carried out and the meat will either be delivered or can be taken from the shop.

The whole idea is to assist people in doing qurbani in Australia.

According to the company, Desi Kasai - Brand Manager, Tania Taner, the purpose is to help people celebrate Eid hassle free.

“We created a very simple and convenient process. Instead of coming to the shop several times, or doing it themselves, anyone can now make a quick order online, saving a lot of time and trouble.
"The whole qurbani process is carried out on Islamic principles."
Once qurbani is done and we receive the sacrifice, the customer can either get it home delivered or can take it from our shop.”
Ms Taner said we the company used a social media campaign this year and found that people really liked the idea of convenience of qurbani service from their home.

“Everyone is now on social media. The new millennial generation is on social media and plan their activities and chores on it."
"Online purchasing has now become a norm and people are buying everything on online sphere.”
Ms Taner said the campaign aimed at people for all communities, who could afford the qurbani service.

“Currently it was for Muslims in general from any country including Arabs, Indonesians, Pakistani, Indians.

However, it was for people in New South Wales focusing on Sydney and even Canberra as target areas.”

Traditional ways of qurbani in Australia
According to the Central Coast Islamic Centre Imam and Khateeb, Nizam ul Haq Thanvi, things have considerably changed in relation to animal sacrifice and qurbani options available in Australia.

“Previously, there were major problems especially sacrificing an animal here. There were not many abattoirs to carry out qurbani, but things have changed and abattoirs work at full capacity during Eid-ul-Adha.

"Similarly, the Australian community now knows about Eid and is very helpful during the occasion.

"People have also tried sacrificing animals at farm houses, with the aim of getting more blessings.

"However, sometimes they violate the council laws or law of the land which should be avoided.”
