News anchor Mureed Abbas was shot in the Defence area of Karachi.
According to the police, Mureed and his friend were shot at close range and died at the spot. Mureed received bullets on his chest and abdomen.
SSP South Karachi Sheraz Nazir told local media that Mureed Abbas had a possible business conflict with another person.
“Mureed had filed a complaint against few individuals earlier so we will look at this angle during the investigation.”
Mureed worked for a local new channel BOL TV in Pakistan. Before joining BOL TV, he was a news anchor at ABB Tak News.
Media personalities, politicians and other representatives of the community have shared their condolences on this incident.
