Pakistan bags 16 medals in Special Olympics World Winter Games

Pakistani women won two of three gold medals, while the contigent brought home seven silver and six bronze medals

Pakistani women and men have done us proud after bagging 16 medals in the Special Olympics World Winter Games that recently concluded in Austria.

The Winter Games hosted around 2700 athletes representing 107 countries, competing in nine different sporting categories.

Pakistani female participants claimed two out of three gold medals; Sabahat Tariq won the women’s 100-metre sprint, while women’s snowshoeing team dominated the 4×100 relay race.

Huzaifa Qazi earned the goal for Pakistan by winning the 200-metre snowshoe race.

The other athletes who won medals are Rimsha Naeem, Farah Ehsan, Fatima Amir, Muhammad Abdullah, Pervez Ahmed, Usama Aziz, Muhammad Hamza, Mehwish Tufail, and Tehmeena.
