Hundreds of people attended an exhibition displaying the creations of famous Pakistani fashion designers as Muslims in Australia gear up for Eid celebrations.
“Ensemble Australia Pop-up”, organised by Pot-Pourri Studio, featured the latest collections of over 20 designers at Crown Promenade in Melbourne.
Organiser Osaf Rehman said she believes exhibitions like this provide a great opportunity for overseas buyers to have a “real feel” of works produced by Pakistani designers.
She maintains that the rise of online shopping has created a void in the market and she hopes to use this to her benefit.
“Through this exhibition, we are giving them what they want.”
People from all over Melbourne visited the exhibition and were pleased to be able to browse through the range of designer selection just a couple of weeks before Eid.
When asked what were the challenges in organising such an event Osaf said, “It’s a nightmare working with designers overseas because of time and communication gap.

“Delivery is another issue, so there’s a lot of hard work that has gone into organising the exhibition today.”
Ms Rehman said she was happy with the response.
“We have had a really amazing response by looking at the turnout and people have appreciated the initiative a lot.”
“My Eid preparations are going really well and I have bought a pretty nice dress from here that I am going to wear on Eid day,” said one participant.

For some, this exhibition meant much more than just shopping.
“I have been in Australia for more than five years and it is the first time it feels like I am in Pakistan during Eid” said another visitor.
