Cricket rivals Pakistan and India played their Cricket World Cup amidst cheers, slogans, and chants from the fans of both sides at the stadium.

Rain affected the match in later stages causing delays in both innings.

Indian side played their full quota of overs while Pakistan overs were reduced based on Duckworth- Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

After winning the toss Pakistan’s Captain Sarfraz Ahmed opted to field first with the hopes that the earlier two-day rain might help the Pakistan bowlers with ball movement.

However, the Indian batsmen played to their strength and made a massive total of 336 runs.

Opener Rohit Sharma scored 140 runs on 113 balls while the Indian Captain Virat Kohli scored 77 runs off 65 balls.

Fast bowler Muhammad Amir was the pick of the Pakistani bowling squad and offered some resistance to the Indian onslaught.

Amir picked 3 wickets for 47 runs including a maiden over.

With a big score to chase Pakistan lost their first wicket early at a score of 13 runs when opener Imam Ul-Haq got out LBW (leg before wicket) to Indian bowler Vijay Shankar.

Fakhr Zaman and Babar Azam stabilised the innings for Pakistan till Azam got out at a score of 48 runs.

Pakistan then lost quick five wickets followed by rain further reducing Pakistan’s chances of winning.

Pakistan scored 212 runs in 39 overs.
