Eminent community members, literary and political figures, academics, media personalities and students were among the attendees at a book launch in Sydney on 22nd October 2017.
Renowned author, poet and Executive Producer of SBS Radio Urdu program Rehan Alavi gave a glimpse of his new book Ek Ghazal Ek Kahani to the audience in a captivating ceremony underscored by fantastic narration of a story Nawa-e-Pareshan by legendary Pakistani artist Uzma Gillany.
“I congratulate Rehan for writing this book and organising this launch,” she said.

The narration received huge applause from the audience who admired the scrip written by Mr Alavi and were in awe of Ms Gillany’s performance that saw her single-handedly playing multiple characters on stage.
The guests had come to attend the book launch from different states of Australia.

Consul General of Pakistan Abdul Majid Yousfani; Pakistani-Australian politician and member of Greens party Mehreen Farooqui; Network Manager SBS Pip Spilsbury; Professor Samina Yasmeen of University of Western Australia; and famous author Ashraf Shad from Melbourne were among many notable attendees.
The book is recognised by writers/poets and literary figures as collection of Mr Alavi’s crispy stories and inspirational poetry.

Dignitaries agreed with Mr Yousfani's comments who said: "It's a unique book, showcasing our strong values in unique presentations mode at the iconic waterfront venue of Sydney”.
Audience echoed the comments of various celebrities that “This book launch event is transformed by Rehan in to “Opera” .
The guests congratulated Mr Alavi for coming up with yet another “creative” and “bold” piece of work and wished him good luck for his next projects.
