Pakistan film industry has bid farewell to another prominent star Shamim Ara, who died in coma in London after a prolonged illness. She was 78.
Starting her career in 1950s, Shamim Ara stretched her acting career for around two decades before wearing the director’s hat.
Born as Putli Bai in 1938 in Aligarh, she later migrated to Lahore where she joined Lollywood and became part of many commercial and critical hits.
She appeared in more than 80 movies, working alongside leading actors including legendary Waheed Murad and Muhammad Ali, and winning national awards.
In 1980s she started directing movies and gained appreciation in this role too.
