“We are here to play good cricket and need support from the fans”

“We are here to play good cricket and need support from the fan”. These were the common sentiment shared by Pakistani cricket team members who attended Shahid Afridi Foundation Australia’s meet and greet event.

The opportunity of a selfie with favorite crickets, rubbing shoulder with them and also supporting a cause. All these could be a wish of any cricket-fan and Australian chapter of Shahid Afridi Foundation made it happened in a meet and greet event held in Sydney. Shahid Afridi Foundation is working towards girls' education by providing support to underprivileged people in Pakistan. The fundraising evening was embellished by visiting star players from Pakistan National Cricket Team which is currently on the Australian tour.  Pakistani cricket head coach and chief selector Misbah ul Haq, T20 captain and star batsman Babar Azam were the center of focus besides batsman Fakhar Zaman, bowler Mohammed Amir, Wahab Riaz, Shadab Khan, and Mohammed Irfan.

The evening was also catered by an informal Q/A session with players in which players were asked questions about their career and how do they feel about Shahid Afridi’s initiative. Star players shared their memorable moments in and out of the field. Misbah ul Haq, Chief Selector and Head Coach of Pakistani team, supported the cause. Captain Baer Azam asked for support from Pakistanis living in Australia by coming into the stadium and support the game.

Misbah ul Haq and Wahab Riaz acknowledged the “boom boom” Shahid Afridi’s efforts.
It is commendable, especially his mission to educate girls as these young girls will become the pride of Pakistan in future

Huge participation from the enthusiastic Pakistani community, officials, media representatives, and the  business community was seen in the event, while several cricket related items were also auctioned including cricket bat signed by former captain and prime minister Imran Khan, Cricket Ball, Bat and T-Shirt signed by Pakistan Cricket Team players and Shahid Afridi biography signed by the author.

Head of SAF Australia Syed Atif Fahim appreciated community support for the cause of girls Education.۔ The event was held in Sydney on 1st. Nov 2019 and attended by T20 captain and star batsman Babar Azam, batsman Fakhar Zaman, bowler Mohammed Amir, Wahab Riaz, Shadab Khan, and Mohammed Irfan.
