Why “It is we sinful women” is touching the souls

Kishwar Naheed famous poem "We Sinful Women" gave its title to a ground breaking anthology of contemporary Urdu feminist poetry.

What Kishwar Naheed stands for?
This is Kishwar Naheed who is women activist known for her pioneering feminist poetry. We invited Kishwar Naheed to Studio and Rehan Alavi talked to her about her incredible journey. 

Kishwar Naheed was Director General of Pakistan National Council of the Arts before her retirement.  Kishwar has written more than two dozen books of poetry, prose, and stories. She has won many awards including civilian award from Pakistani government and UNICEF award.

It is we sinful women
who are not awed by the grandeur of those who wear gowns

who don’t sell our lives
who don’t bow our heads
who don’t fold our hands together
