Nathan Rabe's first visit to Pakistan in 1980 was limited to a "disastrous" 25 hours, but when he came back to Lahore in 1986 he fell in love with this "heaven".

Nathan Rabe was a youngster when he visited Pakistan in 1986 to study Urdu language.

In the US, a few years later the connection from Urdu language led him to an interesting encounter with a Pakistani citizen. That experience inspired the novel he is currently working on. Shah of Chicago is a work of fiction inspired from story of that Pakistani man.

In this interview, Mr Rabe talks about his experience of life in Pakistan; Lahore market; death of then President Zia-ul-Haq and much more.
