Azhar and Sharjeel opned from Pakistan Sharjeel but he was caught on and Hafeez came one down instead of Babar.

At this stage, Captain Azhar Ali retired hurt on 12 and left the field and that changes the complexion of the game when Baber took his turn but Hafeez only faces 7 balls before caught behind the wicket on 4. Pakistan was 2/47 and batting was again under pressure when Umer Akmal came to bat. Pakistan was still in need of 222 runs in 235 balls and required run rate was 5.69.

Umer Akmal returned back by giving a simple catch at 17 when Pakistan was still in need of 190 runs on 199 balls.  Babar stayed 71 minutes on crease before gone on 33 and that was 4/109for Pakistan. Momentum was broken and Pakistan felt behind the game as Run rate increased to 6.76 when Wasim and Rizwan took the charge but only for short when Marsh took marvellous double dipped catch of Rizwan and left Wasim to take along Nawaz but bold by Mitchell Starc on 1 that shacked tumbling batting line of the visitors and Australia was in full control of the game. At that stage retired hurt captain Azhar Ali returned back when his team was on 6/133 while they have to chase 132 runs in 93 balls.
