 As per Australian honey bee industrial council The Australian honey bee industry consists of approximately 12,000 registered beekeepers who own a total of around 520,000 hives.  Backyard beekeeping is an added venture of honey production that is rapidly increasing and in return, creating opportunities for small businesses.

Amateur Beekeeper Association (ABA) NSW currently have 20 clubs/branches throughout NSW, providing information and support to over 1,000 amateur beekeepers and one migrant decided to capture amateur market.

Atif Jamil from Pakistan, took over the business accidentally while working as beekeeping helper with his friend and then the business came for sale.  While sharing his story with SBS Urdu he said “A beekeeping supply business was on sale in 2009. My friends said “Let’s jump into it”, resign our jobs - I buy the bullet, after two years, friend retired and I am on my own now”.
Like any other businesses beekeeping supply business is also has its own risk. He said “Beekeeping business is a gamble, one year you make good money but next season you need to spend from the pocket”.

 Seven years back, a new migrant began his business of "Beekeeping Supplies" from one small warehouse of Sydney and today he owns three warehouses and his supplies range is increasing.

 Atif takes on knowledge. He says “Local knowledge about bees, their nature, weather, seasons and life cycle is very important part of this business and word f mouth is the only campaign produces successful marketing results with backyard beehives lovers”.

While sharing his success story with SBS Urdu he said “I started the business from a small Hornsby warehouse in Sydney North and after six years now I have three warehouses and business is keep growing and in addition of that we now have a factory of bee industry gears in Pakistan that fulfils seventy percent of our gear supply”.

He added, “Online orders are gaining momentum now and other than bee hives gears and accessories we also supply bees and queen bees.

Honey is also used for a variety of medicinal and cosmetic purposes. Honey is traditionally popular in breakfast, brunch, lunch, picnics, platters, smoothies, teas, cocktails, and restorative beverages. Honey cakes, Honey chotie ribs, Honey raspberry vinegar, honey roasted chicken are also few delicious popular food. If you want to try your luck by googling “recipe using honey” it brings up interesting results such as spiced vegetable tagine , Sweet Spicy Salmon with Honeyed Mango Salsa, Honey Brushed Pear & Boursin Crostini, Noodle Salad, sesame salmon, etc.

Quality of honey is a heavily rely on the surrounding plants and environment and any environmental pollution can pollute it equally. The flavor, color and sweetness of honey depend on which type of flower the nectar was collected from. Despite all the benefits of this miraculous product appeared as golden liquid,  Food watchers and environmentalist regularly reminds that the quality of specific food such as honey is a function of the plants and environment substances and hazardous environmental conditions can pollute honey and traces of heavy metals, pesticides, and antibiotics could be found in honey.
