A shoot-to-kill order, a curfew and a heavy police presence have prevented any protests after an Indian court sentenced a popular, self-styled guru to 20 years in prison for rape.
Tens of thousands of police have enforced a lockdown in large parts of two northern Indian states after an Indian spiritual guide was handed down a second sentence for rape.
Riots had broken out when Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted on Friday, (aug 25) with at least 38 people killed and more than 200 injured.
