Australia, China mark 45 years of diplomacy -- at tough time

Forty-five years ago, Australia became one of the first countries to establish diplomatic ties with China as it emerged from a long period of isolation.


This week's anniversary of that moment comes at one of the lowest points in what has been an economically fruitful, but at times rocky, relationship.
