Australia tackles terrorism threat

Australia is gearing up to tackle the threat of terrorism and organised crime with semi-automatic rifles.

As of today, Specialist New South Wales Police officers will be armed with Colt M-4's, as part of an increased capability to protect the community.

It follows legislation introduced earlier this year giving police extra powers.
