The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has announced an independent panel will be appointed to investigate allegations of workplace bullying.

It follows the resignation of the organisation's long-time media director, Mike Tancred, who has stepped down until a bullying claim against him is resolved.

It also comes as A-O-C president John Coates faces his first leadership challenge, after 27 years in the job.
