Boycott foils Macedonia referendum

It is a vote that has exposed deep divisions between two neighbouring countries and their communities. The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia went to vote on this weekend ((Sept 30)) whether or not it will change its name, after a controversial deal with Greece. Preliminary results show just over a third of eligible voters turned out, thanks to a boycott campaign. But a boycott, backed by Australia's major Macedonian leaders, aims to rule Sunday's referendum invalid.
