A landmark British inquiry has given a scathing assessment of former Prime Minister Tony Blair's decision to join the United States-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.


It found that Britain's military involvement was not a last resort, that the legal basis was far from satisfactory and planning for the aftermath of war was wholly inadequate.

As ... reports, the release of the more than 2.5-million-word report comes 13 years after the Western intervention in Iraq - a conflict Australia also took part in.
