As soon as taking office at the end of August, the new Director of the Immigration Department in Thailand announced the removal of illegal immigrants and expulsion all out of Thailand.

Asylum seekers, including those recognized by the UN as refugees, are also considered illegal immigrants.

By the end of August, 147 Highlanders from Vietnam, including children, and 34 Highlanders from Cambodia, all of whom were Protestants, were arrested during the first raid.

BPSOS civil society has joined hands with seven Thai and international charities and organizations to explore the rights of children.

The director of this organization Dr. Nguyen Dinh Thang told SBS Vietnamese that some children and mothers now hope to be freed.
