Australia's highest-ranking Catholic, Cardinal George Pell, has succeeded in his bid to remain in The Vatican, after the child abuse royal commission accepted a doctor's report that he's too sick to return to Australia to testify.
He will now be questioned via video link about his knowledge of sexual abuse by priests in the Victorian diocese of Ballarat, where he was a priest prior to becoming a bishop in Melbourne.
The former Bishop of Ballarat, Ronald Mulkearns, has also been ordered to give evidence and will also be questioned via video link.
