There are growing fears for Australians trapped in China’s north-west, as a combination of surveillance and censorship make it near impossible to know for certain what their fate will be.


News that an Australian baby is stuck in Xinjiang came amid revelations that efforts by Australian officials to visit the region have been repeatedly rebuffed.

More than a million Uighurs are being detained in re-education camps… others have had passports confiscated and are unable to leave the province.
