The first policy debate of the election campaign has looked at how Australia is managing the threat posed by global warming.

Both the major parties are committed to the goal of limiting global warming to two degrees or less and the global target would see the world achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

The Environment Minister Greg Hunt and his Labor counterpart Mark Butler have gone head to head at the National Press Club over the slashing of carbon emissions.
