Coles backs down on plastic bags

Australian supermarket chain Coles has had backed down from its contentious plastic bag ban after receiving a series of complaints from customers.


The supermarket will continue giving out thicker reusable plastic bags for free. 

The move has drawn widespread criticism from environmental groups and some shoppers.
