Elsewhere around Australia -- there were subdued protests against celebrating January 26.


In Melbourne, descendants of Indigenous leaders have re-enacted the 1938 "Day Of Mourning"-- where prominent Aborigines gathered to air grievances over a range of issues confronting their communities.
