Early childhood educators urged to build awareness of Indigenous culture

National guidelines state that early childhood education should promote respect for diversity, and build awareness of Australia's Indigenous culture.


There are calls for  childcare centres and preschools to weave Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into their programs to make this a reality. 

Educators are being urged to tailor what they teach to reflect their local Indigenous culture - rather than taking a broad-brush approach
