Former Bosnian Serb commander Ratko Mladic has been given a life sentence by United Nations judges, after finding him guilty of genocide and war crimes in the brutal Balkans conflicts over two decades ago

As military commander of Bosnian Serb forces against Bosnian Croat and Bosniak armies, Mladic had been on trial at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) for the past five years.
