Australian-based refugee footballer Hakeem Al-Araibi has arrived back in Australia ((due 1300 Tue)) after his release from a Bangkok prison, after Bahraini authorities dropped an extradition case against him.

The 25-year-old was detained in Bangkok in November over alleged vandalism offences in his native Bahrain, where he says he would have been tortured if he was forced to return.
