The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides basic dental services to children free of charge. From 1 January 2017, dental services were capped at $1000 over two consecutive calendar years.


Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their little ones in to see dentist at a very early age, soon after their milk teeth begin erupting. Early dental visits are generally very quick and we do everything possible to make sure young children relax.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides basic dental services to children free of charge. From 1 January 2017, dental services were capped at $1000 over two consecutive calendar years. The two year calendar cap period starts when a child or teenager first receives an eligible dental service. Covered dental services include:

  • examinations
  • X-rays
  • cleaning
  • fissure sealing
  • fillings and
  • extractions

The CDBS doesn’t cover orthodontic, cosmetic dental work, or dental services provided in hospital.
