A student at Sydney’s St Ignatius College, the alma mater of same-sex marriage opponents Tony Abbott and Barnaby Joyce, came out as gay at a school assembly this year.
The HSC student has chosen to share the video of his speech exclusively with SBS in the hope that it may help others find a pathway to acceptance.
