Iraqi troops take IS by surprise in Mosul attack

The Iraqi army says it has recaptured two districts in western Mosul from the self-proclaimed Islamic State.

Authorities say the militants are surrounded, along with around 750,000 civilians believed to be trapped in their homes.

Dozens of civilians taken by I-S as human shields have been released as United States-backed Iraqi forces continue their advance in the area.
