A Syrian family living in Melbourne is asking for compensation after they were stopped at Dubai airport and banned from boarding a flight to Italy, their holiday destination. They say they had been assured they had all the right documentation, but experts say it highlights confusion over how Australian permanent residents are dealt with at international borders.
