Nguyen Bac Truyen, 49, was arrested in 2006 for alleged "propaganda against the state" under article 88 of the Vietnam Penal Code and sentenced to four years in prison.
After his discharge, he continued to work for democracy, human rights, especially help Hoa Hao Buddhist followers which was not the state established organisation. He was honored by Hellmam Hammett's Human Rights Watch in 2011.
