A Morrison government welfare crackdown making newly-arrived migrants wait longer to access various welfare payments is expected to pass parliament after the Coalition reached a compromise with Labor.
But it has been revealed the bill would have failed if Labor had voted against it.
Now, the federal opposition is coming under fire from the crossbench.
