Australia has a long tradition of providing welfare payments to vulnerable and disadvantaged citizens. Welfare fraud—or ‘benefit’ or ‘social security’ fraud—is a controversial problem that has accompanied the growth of the welfare state. The crackdown culture is doing its best to lower the cheaters.
