Brunei's recent introduction of the death penalty for gay sex has shone a spotlight on LGBTIQ+ rights in the region.


In neighbouring Malaysia, while things are substantially more liberal, the community still faces discrimination and stigma as hopes the new government would improve matters for the LGBT community have quickly faded.
