Five weeks after winning the French presidency, Emmanuel Macron's party has claimed a sweeping victory in the first round of parliamentary elections.
And analysts are predicting his party, La Republique en Marche or Republic on the Move, could win up to 70 per cent of the seats in the National Assembly after next week's second round.
