Manus Island detainee wins major human rights award

A Sudanese asylum seeker detained in the Manus Island detention centre has won a major human rights award. Abdul Aziz Muhamat was named the 2019 Martin Ennals Award Laureate, an award honoring those who show outstanding commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights. Switzerland granted Mr Muhamat a temporary visa allowing him to travel to the ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland.
