A United States air strike has killed civilians in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, after militants fired rockets at the airport in an apparent attempt to target US defence secretary Jim Mattis. It is not clear how many civilians have been killed or injured.US officials have blamed a missile malfunction for the strike, which came as US helicopter gunships backed Afghan troops fighting the attackers
