May reveals Brexit plans for EU expats resident in Britain

After months of uncertainty for around three million EU nationals living in Britain, Prime Minister Theresa May has unveiled proposals to allow resident EU expats to be given "settled EU status".

After months of uncertainty for around three million EU nationals living in Britain, Prime Minister Theresa May has unveiled proposals to allow resident EU expats to be given "settled EU status".


It would grant them rights to remain in the country and access health, education and other benefits after Brexit.

The plans were announced as European Union leaders gathered in Brussels for a key European Council summit.
