SBS has learned more than half of Afghanistan's Invictus Games team has stayed behind in Sydney and is believed to be planning to seek asylum.
When a team of wounded veterans from Afghanistan arrived in Sydney last month ((oct)) for the Invictus Games, a crowd was gathered at the airport to give them a heroes welcome.
There were eight athletes and three team officials.
But SBS has learned that, 10 days later, on Sunday, when they headed home, less than half the group was there for the quiet departure.
