A motion to refer nine federal MPs to the High Court as a group over dual-citizenship concerns has fallen just short of passage in the House of Representatives.
Labor had crossbench support to refer the nine, which included four from Labor, David Feeney, Justine Keay, Josh Wilson and Susan Lamb.
The other five were Liberal MPs Julia Banks, Jason Falinski, Alex Hawke and Nola Marino and the Nick Xenophon Team's Rebekah Sharkie.
But the motion was defeated with Speaker Tony Smith's vote after the House vote ended in a tie at 73-all.
