United States president Donald Trump's former campaign chairman and his business associate have appeared in a US federal court to face a series of charges.
Paul Manafort and Rick Gates have pleaded not guilty to allegations involving conspiracy and financial wrongdoing.
They were indicted yesterday (mon) as US special counsel Robert Mueller began a new phase of investigations into alleged Russian meddling in last year's presidential election.
Earlier in the day, prosecutors revealed the campaign's former foreign-policy adviser, George Papadopoulos, had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI* about contact with Russia.
