Police have defended the time it took to evacuate an airliner bound for Malaysia that returned to Melbourne in the early hours on Thursday after a bomb threat.


The incident occurred less than 30 minutes after the Malaysia Airlines plane took off on a late-night flight to Kuala Lumpur.
