On the occasion of the International Women's Day, Amnesty International has honoured Tran Thi Nga, a prisoner of conscience currently imprisoned in Vietnam.

Tran Thi Nga, from Ha Nam, is an activist for land rights as well as advocate for democracy in Vietnam.

On January 21 of this year, in 2017, she was arrested under Article 88 of the Vietnam Penal Code for allegedly "propaganda against the state.

Ms. Nga has two young children who had been working in Taiwan. From a low-educated person, she learned to speak and write in Chinese, as well as to study law to help fellow countrymen.

Catholic priest Nguyen Van Hung, Legal Aid for Vietnamese Workers and Brides in Taiwan, said more about Tran Thi Nga.
