The Australian government has begun the process of ratifying a controversial, long-stalled extradition treaty with China.


The treaty will let the Chinese government make official requests for Australia to return Chinese citizens in the country who are wanted for serious crimes in China.

If the treaty is ratified, Australia will become only the third Western country to enter such an agreement with China.

But some in the legal community are concerned.
