Peru's former president Alberto Fujimori has asked the public for forgiveness two days after a presidential pardon cleared him of convictions for human-rights crimes in office.

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski pardoned the former authoritarian leader late on Sunday, (dec 24) triggering street protests throughout the country.
